Culzean Castle and Country Park

The castle was built in the 18th century to a Robert Adam design. Formerly the home of the Kennedys it is now run by the National Trust for Scotland. Described as the most magnificent country park in Britain it sits on the Clyde Coast with stunning views of Arran and the Ailsa Craig. The park has walks, visitor centres, adventure play areas and guests can enter the impressive castle.

Loudoun Castle and Theme Park

Loudoun Castle is situated just outside Galston, a village a few miles to the North East of Mauchline. The present castle dates, principally, from the 18th century with part of the structure having been built in the 1400's.

There are various fairground rides, a farm, displays of birds of prey and other live shows.

Kelbourne Country Park

Kelburne Country Park a short drive to the north.

Vikingar in Largs

The award winning Vikingar! is situated in the beautiful coastal town of Largs, and has views over the Firth of Clyde, the Isles of Cumbrae and beyond.

The historical and action packed Viking Experience has costumed Viking storytellers telling the tale of the Vikings in the West of Scotland.

There are interactive exhibits and a multimedia presentation on this fascinating period of Scottish History. Leisure facilities are also available on-site and these include a swimming pool, fitness suite / gym, theatre, dance studio, sauna and soft play area.

Dean Park

Combining a country park with many walks and a childrens play area and the Dean Castle. The McKie collection, an extremely important collection of manuscripts, books and paintings relating to Burns is currently kept at Dean Castle.

Bellisle & Rozelle
Rozelle Park (and Art Gallery) and Belleisle Park are adjacent parks on the south side of Ayr. Both are rich in mixed woodland and open greenery. Craigie Park to the east offers wonderful riverside walks.

Calderglen Country Park
Calderglen park, with its magnificent countryside, historic buildings and gardens, is an excellent day out for all the family. With nature trails along the River Calder, playparks, a childrens zoo and a full sized public golf course, Calderglen offers a relaxing and enjoyable day out in the best of East Kilbride countryside.

  • Children's Zoo - this popular area has a varied collection of animals including goats, guinea pigs, snakes and owls. Don't miss the monthly 'Animal Magic' sessions!
  • Nature Trails - There are over eight miles of nature trails at Calderglen, where nature lover and rambler alike can enjoy a walk through the woods or along the banks of the River Calder
  • Ornamental Garden - If you're keen on gardening then this is a must. The park's horticultural staff are on hand and will be happy to tell you how to get the most from your own garden.
  • Calderglen Conservatory - Take a break from the weather and visit the Conservatory with it's varied collection of plants and animals from around the world. Gardening and Zoo staff will be on hand and happy to answer your plant and pet queries
  • Play Area - Younger children will love the scramble nets, chutes and climbing frames while for older children the more demanding adventure play area will provide hours of fun. The equipment also caters for children with special needs.

 

Heads of Ayr Farm Park

Located just outside Ayr this farm park has a variety of attractions to keep children and adults happy. With almost 50 different types of fascinating animals - Our huge collection of creatures and pets simply must be experienced! Goats, Deer, Ponies, Reptiles, Emu, Lemur, Prairie Dogs, Buffalo - and lots more! there are also buggy rides, pony rides and aerial runways.
