The most straightforward route is probably to follow the dual-carriageway by-pass around Prestwick and Ayr until you reach the roundabout (rotary) where the B743 Mauchline road heads East. Be careful not to turn North towards Glasgow at the fourth roundabout (rotary); follow the A77 South towards Girvan, Stranraer.
